Defend The Police!

Defend The Police!

Calgary's brave police officers protect our homes, businesses, and communities from harm and keep us safe. Now, some on City Council are calling for the police to be defunded. They want to reduce the number of police on our streets and spend the money instead on psychologists and social workers. As we've seen in many US cities, taking police out of communities results in more violent crime, more property damage, and significantly less public safety.

We need to stand up for Calgary's police and push back against those who want to paint our police as villains. Let's #DefendThePolice!

I, the undersigned, support Calgary police officers who put their lives on the line to keep us safe. I call on Calgary City Council to defend the police!

It’s illogical to defund an already strapped budget. The opposite should in fact happen. More money is needed to address issues, including “institutionalized” prejudism. I recommend redirecting 10% of the mayor’s and city councillors salary to the police.

It’s a tough job and the police are already hand-cuffed by criminal rights activists as opposed to the silent majority’s VICTIM’S RIGHTS! Let’s Be Careful Out There!

The only thing that needs to be defunded is our mayor and some one council.

Crime is growing with the homeless problem and city council won’t or can’t fix it.

Find the money to support this new initiative somewhere else, we can’t afford to have fewer police protecting us.

How about eliminating the extra pensions of some city staff?

Defunding the police is the exact opposite of what we need. We have excellent and amazing officers who risk their lives, see the absolute worst of humanity, defend the helpless, and make our streets safe. They’re called first responders for a reason and having less of them will only hurt the citizens of Calgary. I’m all for having my psychologists and social workers but are we actually asking these people, who aren’t trained, to enter into situations that police officers choose to talk into every single day?

There are plenty of places in reckless spending of city council that should be cut, but cutting from police budget is NOT the place. Encouraging them to operate lean is fine as with any business , but under Mayor Nenshi the cost of everything has skyrocketed. Council needs to look at their own reckless spending before forcing cuts from the courageous team who puts themselves in danger daily to keep us safe. Please reconsider your source of funding to support social services. Our communities are counting on you. Thank you.

Study it first to understand the situation…. right now the crime rate is bound to go up due to massive unemployment and protest issues that can change the safety of the city. The vote should have been to do a study, not artibtrarily pick a number out of the air…. poor management on the part of the Mayor and City Council. Thank you to all who voted NO …. the rest should be worried come election time. We need Police and don’t need to be bending over for the Woke/cancel culture

Seriously…..the self-serving, virtue signaling, Nenshi butt kissing attitude of most of these councilors is appalling, if not downright nauseating. It is my sincere hope that every one of them, with the exception of Farkas and Chu, will be turfed next civic election, and that Jer0my Farkas will be the new Mayor. Keep up the good work, Save Calgary!
