End Gold-Plated City Council Pensions! - Save Calgary

End the Gold-Plated Pensions for City Councillors!

Being a City Councillor should be about serving the public, not about being handed a gold-plated pension paid for by taxpayers.

It's time to end the culture of perks and entitlement that is festering in City Hall!

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has analyzed City Council pensions and discovered that for every dollar contributed by a City Councillor, five dollars are contributed by hardworking Calgary taxpayers.  Calgary's City Council is living large off the generosity of taxpayers who have struggled with skyrocketing taxes and crushing user fees.

You can read more about the gold-plated City Council pensions here.

If you believe it's time to put the service back in public service, then please sign our petition below!

I, the undersigned, am tired of having my tax dollars go towards gold-plated City Council pensions when families and small businesses are struggling to make ends meet. I support ending the high-paying City Council pensions paid for by taxpayers!

Big mouth, thin skinned Nenshi is the highest paid mayor in Canada and to add insult he’ll receive (2) taxpayer funded pensions from Calgary taxpayers! My counselor Ray Jones is useless as a lump on a log! He’s just taking up space at City Hall and waiting for his tax paid pension to kick in and made him a millionaire! Unfortunately he keeps getting re-elected because of name recognition!

These councillors are out of control. They are getting huge pensions. While at the same time throwing the residents of Midfield Park on the street. No morals at all shameful.

Public Service is exactly that, a service to the public. And ultimately when serving the public you answer to the public. If you do a great job yes i agree you should be awarded, if you do a shitty job and cost the tax payer money, you should be held accountable, if you do something unethical or criminal then it should be jail time not protected by public service “privileges”. Unless you have an agreement of course with the Ethics Commissioner you just appointed !?
