Flatline the Green Line!

Flatline the Green Line!

Calgary's Green Line LRT project is a train wreck.

The line will cost $5 billion for Phase 1 alone, and there's no clear plan for how the line will be built given the complex requirements of running it through the downtown core and the over the Bow River.

After more than ten years of planning, re-planning, re-designing, and re-inventing, not a single piece of track has been laid, and then project remains still on the drawing board.

It's time to pursue new transit options that won't bankrupt our city.

It's time to flatline the Green Line.

I, the undersigned, do not support the risky Green Line LRT project. I demand that City Council flatline the Green Line.

If you are opposed to this project, or at least the segment that will cut through and ruin Prince’s Island Park, go to this site to sign the petition: https://www.thepetitionsite.com/en-gb/886/932/085/yycgreenline/

We need to get the message across to these donkeys in City Council and hold them accountable!

The bridge over the park is a disaster!!!! Cheapest option. The budget will balloon and Calgary will pay for decades to come. Residents are forced out of river run town houses on the river to get enough property for bridge landing on side of bow! Horrible to know your family can be pushed out of your home at any time. Dont stand for it!!!

Don’t destroy the park with a train bridge- nobody takes their kids to a park to sit under a train track. Major safety issues downtown for mental and physical health when residents have a train running by their kids bedroom window every 20 mins day and night. Its child abuse!!

Sign this petition if you have NO CONFIDENCE in the ability of Calgary City officials to get the project done on time or on budget.

I agree, it is time to put the brakes on for this project and look at much cheaper alternatives. Spending by this city council is out of control and general mismanagement is appalling.

This project will be way over budget City Council has already spent millions, it could be $6B for 60k riders. Pretty expensive.

This project is far too expensive and seems very uncertain on the major issues. Needs to be revised.

    please brt the whole

green line for now. Then build south lrt ground level line when approved from south health campus over 5 years to also connect from new event centre north into downtown stopping at new north/south centre street station then continue north over new bridge attached beside centre street. No west beltline route needed. North centre street communities has brt now just give them more buses. stop this green line now. most expensive project in Alberta history.

Outrageous, I wonder if councillors would be a little more cautious if the money’s came out of their own pockets.

5 Billion? What a bloody joke. And I suppose ‘talking’ about it and ‘planning’ it, without so much as a motion to actually start ‘doing’ it – that’s been a billion in the making.

Councils have been a bunch of fools – there is no transparency here and an utter waste. Flatline – the talking stops now.

This city has elected by council to build a new arena! Households are tax to the nine already! Between municipal, provincial or federal not sure who is trying to bankrupt more individuals. Until our governments get their spending under control so our taxes stop going up, the green new line needs to be halted. Period
